A Rare Find

2 September 2023

Sometime in the early 1980s, the main personalities behind Tunnels & Trolls (the second-oldest ttRPG) recorded an audiotape talking about ourselves and our work. Viva Las Vegas

What it was like to be an artist exhibiting at Magic’s 30th anniversary show in Las Vegas. (Spoiler: fun and exhausting.)

In this article, Liz reflects on her experience at Magic’s 30th Anniversary show, noting the stark difference in energy levels between herself and the younger attendees. She recalls being too tired to complete the seven-hour drive home, instead resting with friends Bill and Sara in Tempe, where she enjoyed the Halloween festivities.

After returning home, she needed a week to recover, which led to some frustration from clients inquiring about their card commissions. Despite the fatigue, Liz is determined to fulfil all her existing requests, acknowledging that while she works slowly, she takes pride in her craftsmanship.

Liz is grateful for the support she received during and after the show, expressing her appreciation to those who helped her and to her loyal patrons. She mentions the challenges artists face at large conventions, highlighting the importance of patrons’ continued support. By sharing her experiences publicly, she hopes to offer insight into the life of an artist and encourages readers to support her work through Patreon, as every contribution is deeply appreciated.
