I AM A FREELANCER handling art, editing, writing, and project development. Very often, I get asked about whether I sign cards by mail.

(minor updates 3 July 2025)

cards to be signed

Do you sign cards by mail?
Yes but with this caveat: you may have to wait for me to get to it. Signing cards is not a high priority and I do it when I can. Sometimes (often) this means months go by before I get around to it.

I’m perfectly willing to stay in touch, and you can send me an email nudge when you’re getting concerned, but please don’t ask me to sign cards if you cannot be patient.

A note about prices: ALL prices are subject to change without notice. Examples here may be old, and I may quote a higher price to do similar work. Once you and I agree on a project, that is when the cost is firm and final.

You must arrange to pay return postage in advance. Clients in the US can include a self-addressed stamped envelope. People overseas have acquired American bills from their banks, and tucked the money in among the cards; or they have sent checks in the mail, sent money by PayPal, or have made some other arrangement. Personally, I prefer to send you an invoice via Square.

What do you charge to sign cards?
I am presently asking $5.00 per regular signature, $10.00 per shadow sig. You can request specific colors, if you like.

Where do I send my cards?
Please use this address: Liz Danforth, PO Box 14824, Tucson AZ 85732 USA.

I would appreciate an email to let me know they are coming and to watch for them, since I do not check my PO Box daily. (You can reach me via [etdanforth AT gmail dot com].)

Do you have whiteback artist proofs from Magic?
Yes, but I am out of many popular cards (including Hymn to Tourach, which I am asked for most, Merchant Scroll, and others).

All artist proof cards are $100 each. Let me know what card(s) you are interested in, and I’ll let you know if I have what you want, and at what price. You can find my complete card list here.

A signature on the cards you buy is included in the price. Postage to mail them to you is NOT included.

If you want a drawing or painting done on the back, see the prices below for a guide.

Do you alter or enhance cards by mail?
RIGHT NOW (3 July 2025) all private commissions for card alterations and sketches by mail are ON HOLD.

If you catch me at a live event, tournament, or convention, I will do card alters and sketches at the shows, as time permits. I do not take any home “to do later,” and I cannot take your cards to do “when I have time.”

I am moving artist proof sketches and card alters to my Patreon supporters. Start here for more information. There is a Free tier where you can have a look around, see what might interest you, and how I am handling this new project.

Hymn to Tourach, cards, original art, card alteration, Magic, Magic the Gathering, MtG
I do not expect to do more multicard sets of Hymn to Tourach like this any time soon. I was asked to do a lot of these, and they wore me out! This is an example of why I went to a different process though Patreon. If I do one like this again, you’ll be able to find out about it there on Patreon.

  1. I love that Devouring Deep, and fully painted backs should be in the three-digit range. I did some chicken farming a couple years back, and the farmer who ran the impromptu instruction sessions reminded us “If you’re going to sell eggs, don’t do it for less than $4 a dozen. You’re not doing anybody any favors by asking less.” The local economy is a real thing that we don’t completely understand, and it applies as much to art as it does to chickens.

  2. Hi, I was wondering if you have any copies of Soldevi Excavations artist prints available? I have some friends going to the scg dallas to get my reg copy signed, but I’d love an artist proof if available. I’d be there myself but going thru some major health issues so can’t make it

    1. Hi Carlos — Yes, I still have quite a few artist proofs available at this time, Soldevi Excavations among them. I plan to bring an assortment of APs with me, and can put one aside in your name. Just have your friends talk to me there. I’m sorry your health keeps you from attending.
